Entry / X-1 Visa issued to foreign nationals who are married to an Indian Citizen or a Person Who is of Indian Origin holding an OCI Cardholder. Once they get married to an Indian citizen and register their Marriage in Court, then they can request the FRRO to Convert their Tourist Visa Into an Entry Visa so they can continue their stay without Leaving the Country.
On an Entry Visa, there are no stay limits. An Entry Visa holder can stay in India until their Visa validity. Also, they can Extend their visa, and after 2 years of their marriage, they are eligible for an OCI Card.
An Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) card holder can continuously stay in india and also can do work and start a business in India.
Also, an OCI card holder can Apply for an Aadhar Card and PAN Card in India.

Here we are sharing with you an Entry Visa Documents Checklist for a Foreigner who got married to an Indian Citizen or an OCI Cardholder in India.
- Valid Foreign Passport – The passport must be valid for at least 6 months or more than that during filling out a Visa Conversion Application.
- Passport size Photograph – A recent Passport size photograph in 51* 51 MM. The picture should not be older than 3 months, and the face should be clearly visible.
- A Marriage Certificate issued by the Court – a legal marriage certificate issued by the Court; no other marriage certificates are acceptable. If someone gets married outside India, then the marriage certificate should be apostilled by the authority.
- Residence proof in India – An address proof in India is also required. This could be the spouse’s house rent agreement, water, electricity bill, Form-C ( if staying in the hotel and Individual house).
- Financial Proof – Nobody can survive without money, so FRRO can ask you to submit Financial proof. Your spouse will have to submit their bank statements and a letter that they will take care of all their financial and medical responsibilities in India.
- Request Letter – The applicant needs to submit a Request letter and mention the duration of the extension and the type of visa conversion in India
- Undertaking for Self – The applicant needs to prepare an Undertaking Letter and needs to mention that they will not be doing any business, Employment, or Study in India.
- Undertaking letter from Spouse – An undertaking letter from the Spouse that they will take all financial and medical responsibility in India. If anything adverse comes to notice, he will immediately report to the FRRO.
- Spouse Indian Passport – A valid Spouse passport with the applicant’s name should be mentioned in it.
- Spouse OCI Card – If the spouse also holds foreign citizenship, then a valid OCI Card needs to be uploaded over the Portal.
FRRO can Ask for Some Extra Documents, like
- No Objection Certificate (NOC) Form from the Embassy/High Commission – It completely depends on FRRO. If they want, they can ask for a NOC from your home embassy to complete the process.
- Divorce Certificate – If it’s a 2nd marriage, then the applicant needs to submit their Divorce Certificate
- Single Status Certificate – FRRO / Court can also ask for a Single status Certificate while applying for a Marriage Certificate and Visa Conversion.
- Guarantee for a stay in India– Regarding Address Verification, Local Police can Ask for two guaranteed ID proofs so that they can take your guarantee that you are staying at your Current Address In India.

- Scan Copies should be self-attested.
- Foreign language documents must be translated into English with attention.
- The FRRO may request additional documents as needed during the application filing process.
- The processing time for visa conversion on your visa and documents.
- Personal meeting requests can be generated by the FRRO.
