1. Tourist Visa (e-Visa) :
Generally, Tourist visa are not extendable. However, in exceptional cases due to unforeseen circumstances (like a medical emergency or unavoidable reasons), the Ministry of Home Affairs may grant an extension. Such extensions are not routine and require strong justification.
2. Business Visa (e-Visa) :
Extensions for Business visa may be considered under specific circumstances, such as completing pending business activities or unforeseen business needs.
3. Conference visa (e-Visa) :
Conference visa is required for participation in virtual conferences, webinars, and other online events hosted in India.
4. Medical Visa/Medical Attendants (e-Visa):
If the medical treatment extends beyond the visa validity period, an extension might be granted based on medical reasons.
FRRO registration is required for every stamped Visa and E-Visa that is valid for more than 180 days. They must register their stamped/e-Visa with the concerned FRRO within 14 days of their arrival in India. If, in case, you are not able to register your Indian Visa with the concerned FRRO, your registration will be marked as late and you will be fined for it.
A foreign national can apply for a Visa Extension on the following visas:
E-tourist visa and tourist visas are not extendable visas in India. You can only convert them into an Entry Visa / X visa if the applicant is of Indian origin or married to an Indian citizen.
Entry X1 Visa
The Indian Government has issued this visa to Persons of Indian Origin who do not hold an OCI card. A person needs to register and apply on the FRRO Portal for X Visa Extension for 1 year and a maximum extension period of up to five years with multiple entries.
Entry X2 Visa
It is a Visa for Spouses and children of Indian citizens or OCI cardholders. For Visa Extension – Applicant needs to register on the FRRO Portal. This includes 1 or 5 years with Multiple entries (long-duration visa) or 3 or 6 months with a Double entry (short-duration visa).
Entry X3 Visa
This visa is issued to foreign nationals who joined the Auroville Foundation.

Entry Visa Conversion , registration, and Extension are granted by the FRRO to a Spouse and Child of Indian Citizen/OCI card Holder and Indian Origin in India. The Indian government fee is around 1,000 INR for Visa Conversion and 8,640 INR for Entry Visa Extension for 1 Year In India.
